How does the Health Television System work?

Healthtv and The Parent Channel are provided to hospitals in a self-contained cabinet with all the necessary hardware, software and components required for connecting to hospitals' closed circuit television systems. Once installed by HTS, the maintenance-free, laser-based playback system plays 24 hours a day, everyday.

Each hospital determines its own channel allocations and each program stream has a dedicated channel. The networks are packaged in continuous three-hour program loops and each segment plays eight times daily.

Patients and visitors tune in via their bedside televisions, with no television activation or rental fee required. Programming is updated regularly, with content developed and produced in collaboration with national disease associations and reviewed by our National Advisory Board.
