    1. What kind of programs are on the channels?

    2. How long are the program segments?

      The program segments are 90 seconds to 16 minutes and play in a 3-hour program loop. Each segment airs 8 times a day for maximum flexibility and impact.

    4. How current and credible is the content?

      Programs are updated every 6 months. HTS produces research-based segments for the channels. All segments are top-quality productions that are equivalent to national television networks you'd see at home. Please view our National Advisory Board, responsible for reviewing all content.

    5. How are the program topics determined?

      We receive input from hospital staff and patients during inservices, from the site surveys we conduct, and as a result of new research and guidelines developed nationally by associations and governments (e.g. CDC, NIH).

    6. How do patients see the channel?

      Hospitals allocate a channel for each service, ensuring each channel is available 24 hours a day. Patients watch via bedside televisions.

    7. How are the television networks installed?

      The Health Television System Inc. Module, provided to each hospital, is a self-contained cabinet with all the necessary hardware, software and connective components required for hookup to hospitals closed circuit system.

    8. Is there any staff training?

      With implementation, comes regular inservicing coordinated with appropriate department heads. Quality Assurance Surveys are conducted regularly.

    9. What are the hospital's requirements?

      Televisions at each patient bedside, separate channel allocations for each network, available on the free tier 24 hours a day, dedicated direct-dial phone line and a dedicated AC outlet. For further details, please read our contractual requirements document.

      HTS does all hookups, testing and maintenance.

    11. What is the cost for the service?

      The Health Television System Inc. service is largely underwritten by PBS style sponsorship and socially responsible advertising. To keep implementation hospitals’ annual service fees to a minimum, and to guarantee integrity of the service, advertising is limited to 5 minutes per hour compared to 14 minutes on entertainment channels.

    12. What does the hospital have to do to get HTS service?

      Complete and return our Pre-installation Survey, view and evaluate program tapes, sign off on hospital requirements and have the HTS hospital agreement signed by a duly authorized officer.
